What is Personal Information?
The Privacy legislation defines personal information as: age, name, weight, height, medical records, ID numbers, income, ethnic origin, blood type, opinions, evaluations, comments, social status, employee files, disciplinary action, credit records, loan records, existence of a dispute between a consumer and a merchant and intentions (for example, to acquire goods or services, or change jobs.)

Purpose of collecting your personal information
When you provide us with personal information, we will inform you as to why we are collecting it. In most instances, where the purpose of collection is obvious, such as preparation of your personal tax return, your consent is implied.

In no situation will we provide your personal information to anyone other than the appropriate government body. It is our policy to retain all personal information on our clients for as long as they remain our clients. It is our policy to retain all personal information on our former clients for a period of seven years after we have completed our last engagement.

Maintaining and safeguarding your personal information
We will limit the access to your personal information to the staff and partners of the firm who may be required to use it in the completion of your engagement. Our partners and staff are required to sign a confidentiality agreement on commencing employment, which requires them to keep all information relating to our clients confidential. We strive to ensure that the security measures put in place in our office protect against loss, theft and unauthorized access of your personal information.

Your access to this information
It is our firm policy to provide our clients with a copy of returns filed on their behalf by our office. In additional, you are able to request copies of personal information which we possess. There is no cost for reasonable requests. We will determine what is a reasonable request and will inform you of any costs related to the providing of information required beyond that.
