White Kennedy is a full-service accounting firm with a wide range of clients. This gives students the opportunity to work with individuals, small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and municipalities. Working closely with a partner and a manager, students gain experience in all aspects of client files.
We recognize that living a balanced life is important, and means different things to different people. As a firm with a high volume of T-1 clients, everyone is required to work overtime during the peak tax season. These extra hours are banked so that they can be used throughout the rest of the year. For one happy staff member, that means having two mornings a week to play baseball. Some people turn their time into long weekends and extended vacations, while others take the cash.
Speaking of cash, members of our staff receive a competitive salary and a benefits package that includes extended health coverage, and disability and life insurance. Our hard work is also rewarded with company-sponsored social events: the annual Christmas party, end-of-summer party, and everybody's favourite, the April 30 th tax party.
We encourage professional development for everyone at White Kennedy. We have monthly staff meetings, in-house tax workshops, scheduled reviews, a continuing education policy, and provide one-on-one feedback from managers and file reviewers. In addition, CASB students receive a half a day of paid study time for every hour of exam, in addition to earning their regular salary while writing exams.
Our system of support is proving highly successful. In the past two years, we have had one former student become a manager and then a partner, another has become a manager, and five others have earned their CA designation. They all continue to learn, grow and give back as part of the White Kennedy team.
